I have a weak radiator and would like to replace it with a metal one.

My old one cannot be cleaned or fixed so I had the local radiator repair shop order a new one.

So close - I had this same issue with the plastic tanked ones, too.

Crappy 1 handed pics - sorry.

The width where it goes into the rubber feet is too wide causing issues with how it sits and raising the upper mount enough to cause the fan shroud to hit the fan.

No bueno.

I am going to take both to my guy tomorrow but am interested in options.

Thanks !

Britt

I got a HD radiator from orelies auto parts for around $150 fit just fine, my old brass one wasn’t leaking but had the inner 1/3rd of the fins missing

Was it all metal ?

If so, may be worth a look.
Hopefully those pics made sense, BTW.

What you're likely to find is a full aluminum radiator. It may not be as many rows to get the same cooling and doesn't need to be. Aluminum gets rid of heat much quicker so usually the radiators aren't as thick and less tubes per core because they're spread out further though they are a little bigger. Many times you can find seconds or blems on eBay for cheap where they might have an ugly looking seam weld but it's function and warranty are 100% as like a brand new Grade A unit.

It was aluminum fin and plastic end caps, my only issue was that I wanted one without a trans cooler because mine is a stick, but it came with the tranny ports. Also I got a new radiator cap because the opening in the new radiator was narrower that the original brass one and wouldn’t let it vent, and kept blowing the cap off

So use it for a power steering cooler.

There's no cost to having an unused tranny cooler hitching a ride, unless you're racing and looking to save weight. I wouldn't go crazy looking for a radiator without one.

It's too small for an engine oil cooler, if that's what you're thinking.
