Tell Mr. Taxman you will come down to City Hall (or Village Hall-whatever they have in Kansas) and deliver the check in person. Business hours won't matter, the front door can remained locked.

Hey Ricko, I’m a huge VGG fan of course. Here’s one of his videos where he purposely builds a 307 just to see what it would do.

A 307 is like an ugly girl...they are what they are but get the job done! Put a new timing set & seals in it & punch it hard enough to moan like it's a 4bbl. That's how I treat my 283!

I had a neighbor that had an old early 50s Chevy truck/rat rod. He was on a budget. He bought a 307 on the cheap and rebuilt it for about $800. He put just enough cam in to lope a little and kept the two barrel on it.
That would be a great application.

Ive put 4 barrels on sbc that were running 2barrels before. It's still fun but of course they are limited on flow with those heads. I ran 650 4 bbl carbs on them

I have had 3 cars with a 307 in them before. All were fun to drive. More fun than not being able to drive them, because I wanted a bigger motor.
I would rather have a 307 than a 305 or 283. Go for it.

The 307 I had is how my backup Edelbrock 1605 - 1506?became the backup. Mine had an RPM intake/headers on it and a Holley 4bbl. The Holley crapped out on Route 66 one night and my buddy ran me home to get the other 4bbl I had layin around. Swapped it out real quick and got back to cruisin no problem. I was a counter salesman at Oreilly back then.
Late 99-early 2000

That's my 307 story, hope you liked it.

I'd run the 307, but definitely swap a small 4 barrel or preferably a quadrajet on it. I believe with the appropriate 4 barrel, you'll get better mileage, throttle response, and more power.

Not meaning to cause thread drift, but the 74 C10 I have with a stock 350 2bbl gets about 11mpg.
My 1980 K15 350 quadrajet gets about 14+.
On a weekend toy or part time driver, I don't think it matters much.

That was kind of the plan. 929 cam, performer and an edelbrock carb.

The 4 bbl primaries qjet are smaller than the 2bbl primaries. So slightly better mpg with the 4. If ya keep your foot out of it!

A 327 crank in a later model( post 1963 I think) 283 makes it a 302.The Z28 was designed that way to be able to compete in some type of race years ago, I cant remember exactly.SCCA trans am series I think

350 or 327 block with a 283 crank gets you a 302 or an early 283 block .120 over. It was scca and they had to be under 305. And the reason the 302s were so bad was they built them out of the baddest 327 they had, they revved so high because that cam acted bigger in the smaller motor. 327 crank in a 283 block is a stroked 283 in other terms the 307,I think they are 330s with a 350 crank
