My 350 has an oil pump w/3/4" pick up tube.
The replacement that came with the "kit" is 5/8".

Is there any functional difference?
Should I replace the pump or get a new pick up tube?

What is the 'kit'?

I think the later vortec motors got the 3/4 pickup tube. If the new pump is correct for what you need, a matching pickup should suffice.

The engine came with the 3/4" pump.
It is a 10243880 roller block, not sure what year as it was a repower.
I think I want to stay with the 3/4"..........

I'll either stick with the M55 and replace the pickup, or go with the Melling M155, same pump, larger pickup. I'm gonna take it to the machine shop who sold me the M55 and let him sort it out. As long as it doesn't colt me more, I'll go with his recommendation. He's gonna press in the tube and put a tack weld on it to make sure it stays put...........

Got the Melling M155 today. The shop TIG welded the pickup onto the correct position.
