I've had more fan clutches fail than electric fans over the years. Just sayin'.

And not say you aren't careful, but you probably should really try getting in the habit of checking the gauges more often. A long time ago I got myself in the habit of checking at least once a minute, now I ALWAYS know what's going on under the hood without even having to think about it.

I check my gauges like you do. But when I'm in someone else's truck I don't...I don't know why that is.

Dad rewired up those same fans with 10 gauge wire and 2 relays instead of one...no issues since. Hes passed away now, brother has the truck, Ill need to holler at him to see how it was wired up. Im going to order a set of these for my truck now. Now that his has performed well when wired correctly. I believe it will free up some HP for my setup

I'm still running the same fans and homemade relay setup on my '84 without any troubles. Still controlled with a manual dash switch too. The 305 is gone now though, replaced by a 454. The fans and smallblock radiator still seem to be up to the task, but there is no AC and the truck never sees stop-go rush hour traffic anymore either.
