Seriously that burb is not bad at all, the worst is that roof rust, but I'm sure there is a good donor piece somewhere about.

This is what I started with. 90% of the black patches were surface rust, treated with OSPHO. It needs cab corners, a patch on one rocker, and 2 floor patches. The right rear corner of the bed is smashed and has to be cut out and a panel welded in. The pillar at that corner needs to be straightened.

Hoping to be painting in the next couple weeks.

Well here’s your problem. You got it set to “M” for mini, when it should be set to “W” for wumbo.

Surface rust isn't such a problem, just sand it off before you paint obviously. My whole truck was like that when I bought it, hence the rattle can paintjob just to stop it from actually forming holes). Honestly it makes it a little easier in some ways, once you sand it clean you're just down to bare metal, don't have to worry about old paint underneath that could potentially peel off like ours did lol

I literally saw almost this entire piece peel off and blow away in the wind when I was driving one day...

This was too much rust for me! But nothing compared to what I see in this thread. Don't know how you guys tackle those projects. More power to you!

I started my project thinking I'd fix rust but soon realized that if the project is going to be done in a timely manner, it is far quicker to buy solid used or new body parts.

It all depends on one's skills and completion time frame.

Lord , I thought my quarters, wheel arch, and rockers were bad. Rest is solid.

Seeing some of these is sad.
