I used to have mine down under the dash and at one time on the front of the center console. Made it pretty easy to reach BUT If I was on the skinny peddle I couldn't hear it without maxing the volume. My K5 used to be super loud. Once I finished the cage and put in an overhead switch panel I moved it up to the overhead and like it much better now. Can hear the speaker and always in easy reach.

Can't help you with any consoles but just some food for thought.

This is how I installed a high band radio. Very similar in size to CB. Used the dome light hole inside for access to install antenna. After a LOT of miles radio did crack the bottom flange of dash frame. A reinforcement bracket is recommended.
