What new tools have you got lately?

Lol yeppp, a lot of women just don’t get it, my ex-wife certainly never did. Thankfully my current GF (at least so far), seems to understand and accept. I bought a Ryobi sawzall yesterday to hack my exhaust off. I’ve never bought one cuz I’ve always borrowed my dad’s. Yeah I have manual hack saws but it was on sale

Had to get a new shop fan. My old ones motor burned up. I can't complain it lasted 9 years. Also put a new ground clamp on my welder. It welds a bit better now.

The deburring tool seems really nice. As well as the other pieces. I just like shiny stuff I guess lol, it also has a 6 point hex driver on the outer tool that also threads into the base of the main tool.

Is that the Eastwood tube flaring set? I have one and it is great. Makes the nicest double flares. I also bought the 37 deg flare dies since I do some AN fittings.

Nope it's the summit brand. Was the cheapest, I like summit, and they're all the same imo. Do it nice or do it twice, I plan on not doing it twice lol.

Ok I thought I'll just get a step drill bit and punch holes in the firewall for the new A/C! No the engineers think those holes need to be 2" and 1 1/8", Step drill is not going to get it!

I got sand paper for the sanding boards my wife got me. She didn't understand that it didn't come with the boards. I also got a 90° seem separator. I have the flat one already and it is great.

I don't know if you would call it a tool? I got some new sandblasting media. Cleaned up my brake pedal housing.

Well.....I got this new (to me) 80 gal compressor. Was going to put an aftercooler on it and start painting my truck. Every connector I pulled was full of oil. I checked the oil that was in it and it looked like motor oil (if detergent, then rings are bad). Figured I'd pull the head to look at the pistons and found it, and the air filter box half packed with mud. Remnants of mud daubers....ALOT of them. So figured I'd be cleaning / refurbing everything, so pulled the whole pump apart. Found an NOS gasket kit. The bearings (Made in Yugoslavia) were also shot. Found NOS US made ones to replace them too. So figured while I waited for the parts, I'd open up the electric motor and check the 30 yr old bearings out.

What I found there was the entire case, except the area where the commutator spins, was totally packed with mud.....more mud daubers. I chiseled all of it out (about 1/2 a coffee can full) and rinsed it with 3 cans of contact cleaner. Bearings were also toast - the governor was cracked and the contacts were worn down. Took it all to a local old school motor repair shop downtown where they had everything on the shelf.....still made in USA. ATM am waiting on them to do their thing to the (made in TN) motor. UFB it ran as it was.

So I got the pump rebuild parts a week ago. Soda blasted the case, honed the cylinders, and all new rings, bearings, seals and gaskets. Also needed a site glass. Wife said it looked so nice it made the tank look bad (was decent but lots of chips and scuffs), so I masked off the labels, sanded it down and 3 coats of Regent Red (Coleman's original color). Just finished it last night. If I get bored, might buff the tank....dunno. All that red on the floor is from the sanding. It cleans up pretty easy.

Up on the wall behind it is my 26" 40yr old Dayton fan thats getting the overhaul next. Too hot out ATM.....so has to run.

Unfortunately I turn a lot of "freshen ups" into rebuilds too. Which explains why I get so little accomplished.

On the plus side, now you'll know you have (as I try to reinforce to my customers what a rebuild actually is) performance and longevity comparable to new. I should add efficiency to that statement in the future as well.

Who remembers my outside cherry picker? Today drove to Paola Kansas,where I have to go to get anything,anyway went to the farm and feed store,walking through the store a cherry picker, $100.00 I always state I cannot afford cheap tools,too much down time. But a $100.00 Cherry picker I just had to. If it fails I've still got my good one and my one with the come along so nbd. Also have to admit,hate to admit but. I was in Kansas City in a junkyard pulling a pair of heads 100 miles from home. I do not have the proper torx with me grrrrr.I'm in a strange neighborhood Does anybody know where I can buy torx bits around here?Harbor Freight.Okay,where is it. I buy cheap and the good locked up ones,because if the cheap one breaks,I've got backup. One sets going back. Immediately break a cheap one. Open the good ones a gentleman asks to borrow a torx,I said I just bought these. I need them here's a cheap set one is broken. He bought them from me..
