Belt sander or belt grinder? I have a 3/4 hp Dayton 2 by 42. It's a grinder, lemme go look, it turns 3450 rpm. Had it probably 12 years or more. No problems, have redesigned some guards and the platent. You'll find it's not an occasional use tool, you'll end up using it everytime your in the shop.

Is the difference between a belt sander and a belt grinder, the speed? I'm going to be using it mostly for metals.

I have those and I love them. Tough to use in tight spaces though.

Depends on the ambient air temp and if it is breezy. Mostly on high though. Just a matter of feeling it out. When I first started using those solder heat shrink connectors I actually was using a propane camping torch on very low heat. Much more control with the heat gun. Another small hitch is trying to join 2 wires on one side to 1 wire on the other side. Takes some practice but I assure you, you will like to have these in your arsenal. Hit the middle of the joint first to get the solder flowing then work towards the ends to push the air out and heat shrink and seal.

Yes it's belt speed and hp. Metal you will be much happier with a grinder.

Picked up this monster the other day. Way heavier than anticipated lol, the guy said it came from a local diesel shop, so I'm guessing it was a pretty penny and a lot of capacity. The base plate is over a 1/2 inch thick, and everywhere else is a 1/4 inch or more. Has some kind of composite wheels, the look to be 7-8 inchers. A huge hydraulic cylinder as well, it's for sure 2 inches, the outside case is 2.5.

Couldn't find much info online, it is a "star machine and tool" hoist. Theyre still in business as far as I know, I believe this is a 60's or 70's unit. It also has a little turn table type setup, for what? I have absolutely no idea why, as 90 degrees from straight it's already tipping on its own, sooooo?

I paid $150, she needs some pump refreshing as it's slow as hell, but not a big deal, it still works. It's straight and rolls good, but damn is it heavy. Needs that handle bracket catch thing fixed up and a paint job, but man it is a beautiful rig. I've never seen one that resembles it. The arched arm will be very helpful in my opinion, i think I'll get more lift than a straight style.

Believe if I had to work on the pump, I would get a 12 volt hydraulic pump and put on that thing. Nice shop crane!

Got mine from TSC. Good bang for your buck on compressors. TSC coulda done a better job with delivery tho

How much if you don't mind. Think it was 1200 or 1300 here and Dewalt was 899 and so was the husky. I should have bought one 2 years ago when they were 599 before ******* got in office. Gotta love procrastination lol
