What manual hubs are you running?

You must have hit them (Amazon) at just the right time. I need a set of hubs for my k20 when I rebuild it, might have to keep an eye on Amazon. Probably don't need anything that heavy, but I do plow snow with it, and give it a good workout from time to time.

Still have the big old Yellow knob Spicer hubs on my 8 lug Dana 44. I guess they are called Hub Loc hubs. Swhat it came to me with.

Big, but not enormous....
apparently they are wide enough that I need Christmas tree lights on my roof and tailgate and I don't. hopefully I don't get pulled over by the tape measure police.

edit: I think they are what came stock on the D60. so far they've been reliable, but the truck stays in 4wd almost always. they only get unlocked when I leave my property to drive to the rubicon or to tote my dirt bikes around. no I don't drive very far into the rubicon. its just close to my house and I go fishing up there.

BTW, the Dynatrac and Yukon copies will stay locked in if you do manage to break them. All the others, broken means call for help. They will be broken and not engaged, so you remain stuck!

this is why I carry the full time 4wd axle slugs/ locker in the truck.

Bringing this thread back for a question. I am considering upgrading from the Spicer locking hubs to Warn or Mile. Is the inner bushing that indexes the inner gear on the hub still used with the newer locks? I had one fall apart during removal but the other is in great shape. Thanks.

I have warn premium and they have only an inner and outer body, some screws and a snap ring. You get rid of all old locking hub parts when changing to the manual locking hubs.
From minute 51 in this video the hub and it's installation can be seen.

The only hubs that are an "upgrade" over Spicers would be Yukon Hardcores or Dynalocs (note that each of these copied portions of Spicer locking hub designs). Warn, MM, etc all use crappy pot metal in their locking mechanisms.

What axle are you working on? Big hub D44?

I’m still running the original spicers. Never had an issue with them, it’s too bad they’re not available anymore.

Thanks. Yup, Dana 44, 8 lug. Actually, my Spicers are in pretty good shape except for the one bushing that fell apart, so, if I can find one of those I could run what I have. Thought I would ask the question in case I have to change.
