Just ordered new tanks for my '80 K30, was wondering what the best coating to put on the tanks would be before I install them?

I would say a good epoxy primer, and the paint color of your choice. These have enough of a tendency to corrode, that for myself, I would avoid anything thick enough that would hide rust if it started underneath said coating.

Not even sure if they come with a coating, bought them from Brothers. Since they are going on my plow truck, worried about the seams and the strap areas.

following I just bought one for my 86 gmc k15, need another.

I was thinking just a clear coat fo rmine I like the silver they are.

Maybe a chassis saver or something?

For the strap areas I alway suse some rubber strips but maybe some chassis saver or something then some rubber?

I ordered the strap pad kit for each too, not sure what it is made out of. If it's galvanized, I've heard people having trouble getting paint to stick very long, could be just the type of paint they are using. Hoping they are bare metal, much easier to paint. I do have a quart of cold galvanizing compound I could brush on too.

I just put one on my K15 .. I used rustoleum 2x black paint
/primer on the top and. Duplicolor rock guard on the bottom. I used a thin rubber mat material cut into strips for my strap pads. Have had good luck with this combo on previous builds
