changed the fuel filter this afternoon. I hate Russell quick disconnects lol. Tight spot, ended up removing the lines from them and doing it out of the vehicle. Install was easy as I did just the opposite, fittings on lines then install filter.

I fired up the stepside for the first time in about a year. Before that, it had sat in the barn, untouched for several years. I did hose it off last year, but this time I hand washed it. It no longer has the appearance of a barn find.

That’s pretty cool. I see C10 step sides and immediately go in my mind to the Roadkill Muscle Truck.

Got the last of the electronics buttoned up on the LS swap. The OBD2 port and the pedal is all tied into the ECM. I'm just waiting on a guy to come by and flash the ECU disabling the anti theft and switching it from automatic trans to old school manual.

I'm looking forward to this thing firing off.

I still need to adjust the clutch and tidy up a few wires.

New rear shocks. The old ones we're pretty well trashed. Hopefully these will eliminate some of the bouncing when I go over holes, ruts, etc. When I go around a corner and there are holes in the blacktop, it feels if the truck jumps as it goes around the corner. Roads here suck!! ADOT likes to leave roads with holes in them.

On your grille, did you buy a replacement that was blank, and add on the GMC emblem separately? It looks good and I was considering doing the same on mine. I cannot find an '83 replacement.
Sort of, I traded a Silverado grille for this one from a buddy of mine. This is one of the cheapo aftermarket grilles that are everywhere. It's a single headlight grille that someone in the past had glued in the attachment points for the inboard turn signals for a dual headlight grille. It was plain silver when I got it, I scuffed and shot the center with my can of GM Light Blue Metallic and then used 3m double sided tape to attach the emblem from a 99-07 truck. I've had that idea in my head for a long time and it turned out pretty good IMO

It does look good I definitely agree. I recently bought a tailgate emblem and have just the blank grill on the front right now so I will dry fit that and see how it looks. If it's like a fender emblem with the two thread studs I will likely drill the holes and attach like that. Thank you for the reply. Very Nice truck!

Thanks man! Just FYI, those 99-07 GMC grille emblems have 1 stud and 2 "tangs". I just cut them all off and used the tape. I would've drilled holes if there were more studs but the little tang things are hard to deal with

You’re not joking Paul. Have you driven on I40 much this year west of Williams? Pothole city.

Spraking of rear shocks! Finally got the suckers loose. This afternoon I had some time to work, and my truck buddy at work happened to have a boss ass impact wrench that he let me take home after my shift today.

I'd say it was time. Drivers rear was the only one that had some life left in it. And ad you will see, the passenger rear was completely toast. Holes in the chamber and snapped rod. It was useless.

I can't wait to check them out tomorrow. I will be cruising to my Uncle's to return some tools, and buy some more food for the dogs, and grocery shopping and take the kids to swim practice...but really I will be taking it down some roads with particular bumps to feel it out

Started sanding today in my poor man's paint booth, hoping to get it in paint by the end of the week before the temps drop. First time ever painting a vehicle so wish me some luck folks!

That's kinda wild to hear. Me and my buddies constantly talk about how good I40 is compared to I20 when going from GA out to AZ. I20 through Mississippi and Loosiana will knock teeth out. I40 was like glass from Memphis to Flagstaff when I went to Dino's last year.
