Last night I supervised the installation of a simple ground strap.
Since we know the engine has been out of the truck at some point for a rebuild, but don't know if they put the ground straps back.

This ground strap came of the recently purchased heads from the junkyard.
So we found a factory ground wire in the engine compartment and ran the strap from there to the alternator mount.

Junior also installed the newer style windshield washer tank with built in pump.
Our stock one doesn't work right and has been unplugged since we bought the truck 3 years ago.

He picked out a tank from a newer truck and mounted in place of the stocker.
The wires were as simple as just connecting them to existing plug wires and routing them.

After he got it all installed we just had to aim the nozzles to get the stream to where it needed to be for best coverage.

New passenger side rocker and cab corner installed. Now playing the bondo game of fill, sand, find low spot, repeat. I’m not a body man by any stretch so no laughing...

So I could to this....(won't put on any welds until rear axle is mounted and I know it is correct).

BUT THEN....I noticed busted springs on each leaf stack. Called about 18 different places looking for used, and what I did find I was warned they were worn, so I said screw it and did this...put on new ones. They arrived the next day.

I got them at Husky Springs in St. Cloud, MN. Originally cost around $215 each...BUT I asked if they can compare to SD Springs pricing ($157 each, but $189 shipping!!!!), they couldn't but did give me a break on them. $60 shipping from Husky, but I'm 2.5 hours from them. Not sure how much shipping would be otherwise.

Thank you. I've been trying hard to have this on the road by August, will see though!

I actually love doing bodywork, been doing it as a hobby since I was a teenager. Restored many vintage snowmobiles (and fiberglass hoods), welded up and painted many vehicles. Even did a fiberglass Corvette that turned out smoother than glass. Give me steel and a welder any day though!

If I lived closer I'd love to help out!! Always like helping out others when I can.
