Since I got the '79 crew cab a decade ago, it's had a bunch of play in the steering. Always felt like the rag joint was completely shot. I guess I never actually checked it out. Well, the wife happened to comment about the sloppy steering again, so I made her turn the wheel so I could check it out. As it turns out, the drag link had a little play and the steering arm/lift block arrangement was loose. That was kind of an 'oh crap' moment, lol. With the studs now tight, it steers much better

I did some more welding last night. Hopefully on the last small patch I needed to do. Next is one of the cab mounts, don't plan to replace it as I will cut out bad material and just weld in new.

When I get to the point of paint some year, i will do a full tear down of the truck, replace rockers, cab corners, cab mounts....etc., but for now I am just making it road worthy. We gotta have some fun with it first!!

Hopefully I can start re-installing the dash/vent components soon. Then insulate, add carpet, seats, belts, and then on to engine & suspension work.

Sounds easy, right :anitoof:

So I've been away for a while. My company moved into a brand new facility and I've been working crazy hours. Something like 60, 80, 80, 80, 70, 60...hrs per week for the past 4-5 weeks. Things are finally settling down and I had a chance to bolt my hitch on

Topped off the washer fluid, checked the oil, radiator levels and the tranny fluid for color, then snugged the valve cover bolts.

7/16th outboard, 3/8in inboard.

Makes no sense, but that's what they were.:33:

Added 20 gallons worth of MMO to the tank - 8 ounces.

Good to go for another work round trip tomorrow.

Put some new weather stripping on my windows and lubricated the inside of the doors today. With the garden stuff being ready and all the rain we’ve had this week I haven’t been able to do too much.

I need to check on the trans. I had it replaced and it has less than miles on the warranty but expired by time. and yes it is 4x4 and lifted. Also has 3 row's of seats. Current smog and registration this month. Took it to the top of shasta bally the day I bought it in 99!
