Charged up the a/c. My compressor seal leaks. This is the last season for that compressor. I’ll get another one next spring. Gotta love my old stock of R-12. Works so much better than 134a.
Also put in a new starter. My old one would just click several times and then start. I need my truck next week for a big yard project. Going to be putting it to work

Nice! That R12 is like liquid gold. I've got some squirrel away too! I converted my truck to 134 years ago. Saving the good stuff for a future restoration project

Serviced the ignition system:
-new ignition control unit
-new coil
-new rotor
-new cap
-new wires
-new plugs
I’m pretty sure the #4 and #8 plug wires were on the wrong terminals. It always ran decent before and runs at least as well since changing the aforementioned items. Planning on tweaking the timing, mixture screws, idle speed screws and electric choke settings sometime next week

Finally got all the pieces together to mount the spare. Thanks to @78C10BigTen for coming up with the carrier and that couple on ebay that sells chassis parts I was able to get the missing crossmember.

Now, after 35 years of lugging that POS around in the bed it's finally secured where it belongs.

It's amazing how empty the bed looks without it in there. Like a pickup bed should look. Ready to do work, not having it's own pieces taking up cargo space. I think I'll put it to work tonight.

You have no idea how good this feels!
RayandSamantha on ebay? If so I've bought from them in the past and they do seem to always have a nice array of parts.

Since I don't smoke I decided to swap the ashtray out for something more usable to me, a dual USB charger. The way I did it required no modification to the ash tray door so i can revert it back if need be.

Also got my auxiliary fuse block installed and wired up, Powered from the junction block on the firewall and has a 70A relay to provide it power using the original fuse blocks ign acc to power the relay. I like this as it has leds on each circuit that light up if the fuse goes out. Also it has a ground buss bar which makes finding a good ground easy (grounded to the parking brake ground connection). Wish I would have done this 3 years ago.

My 15x8 Wheel vintiques series 62s arrived and I hit them with some white rustoleum enamel, and off to the tire shop.

Got some 31/10.5/15 BFG K02's put on it and shined up the dog dishes that I stole from my 79.

Poppy 87, I used all ACDelco parts. That’s all I use unless they don’t offer the part I need.

That sounds right. It was a little more spendy than I was hoping for, but realistically it's not like I was going to find it somewhere else as easily for half the price. Part was as advertised and the job is done. Well worth it.

There were two crossmembers that the truck didn't have since it was ordered without a spare. Long story. When I started looking into retrofitting it the forward one was still available from the dealer. I was going to fabricate a substitute for the rear one, since it's just a straight piece that crosses over. But since I was still missing the bracket and all the related pieces it all just languished.

Then, thanks to GMSB I picked up the entire bracket assembly from a member here, and I knew to look on eBay for the frame part. Plus a friend gifted me a brand new tire that was the right size. So I had a rim (with an old spare that the sidewall had split open) cleaned up and painted the wrong color. Oh well, nobody will see it under the truck.

I'd say I'm sorry I waited so long, but it really did require the stars to align. But now that it's done and I've experienced all the good things that come from not hauling that #$@&+=¢ thing around I really do wish it had happened much sooner. Like when we bought the truck.

and a bit retro.....cassette deck? Sweet!
I put that in around 2 months after I got the truck, it was a (appearing never used) Sony xr-2100, I something isn't right in the mechanism as it would try to eat tapes, but not a big deal since I have my Bluetooth setup on it so I stream from my phone most of the time, interestingly I found another Sony head unit, a xr-2600 (with line out), which is going to be put in my 79, also in very nice shape.

I don't remember what model number it is, but I put an identical looking Sony unit in my Suburban. Not long after installing it, the display quit working. If the sunlight hits it right, you can barely read it, but that's rare. The automatic tuning makes that problem a pain in the butt. Whenever I have to disconnect the battery, I end up playing 'radio roulette' until I take the time to figure out my normal stations and program them in.

I know there's a sequence of buttons to hit that makes the tuning a manual operation, but it times out after a few seconds. I really need to replace the thing, lol.

Haven't done anything to it yet, but just picked up a 89 Burb with a blown engine for parts. My trailer has some stuff on it, and I am working the next couple of days, so I probably won't be able to pick it up until Tuesday.

Its supposed to have a recently rebuilt tranny, which I need for my Blazer. Has four good tires with rallys all around, including caps and rings. The body is kind of rusty, but there are some usable pieces.

It has rear air but it looks like the compressor has been disconnected. Not sure what else might be of use to anyone, but once I get it to my shop, I will look it over better. I mainly want the tranny and tires/wheels then want to strip off anything else worth saving, since it's probably going to the crusher as I don't really have a place to store it. If anyone needs parts or pieces, let me know.
