Had time today so I dropped the pan again on the trans to swap in a better filter and do another drain & fill.

I need to do this. I bet it's never been done.

I just recovered my seat, did some more cleaning (and cleaned up my yard from all the crap I had everywhere), and put a final coat of paint on my dash pad.

I've been chasing an issue with a whining pump after I started using the ATP filters. The short time today to let everything get up to temperature before the test drive, no whine, and that's a good thing.

Looking forward to seeing that dash after you get it done.

24 gauge is awfully thin. I make all my patches from 18ga and these trucks were mostly 19ga.

I tried to find a Purolator Filter because they are made with the brass, not the dacron. I wound up going to a transmission parts seller and asked specifically for the brass type filter. It was definitely of higher quality than the ATP. The grommet that fits over the pick-up tube fits really tight. And it only cost me $5.

I like Purolator filters, too. All I use for oil. I'll have to look in to this.

Installed 1406 out of the box. Turned key. With a prime it started right up; adjusted idle mixture and idle speed when hot.

Works like a new car. Smooth idle. Restarts easy. Shuts off fine.

Need different kickdown stud. On order.
Need different accelerator stud, On order.

Have open adapter Qjet to Square. Have 4 hole one on order.

Gauges on order; hope today.

Yeah, I'll be doing more business with this place. I can get the torque converter and rebuild kit for $260 out the door. Then it's just labor, I pay myself in beer and sometimes order a pizza so I don't have to stop for too long, so that's cool with me...lol... Pop will be helping me out to do the rebuild, and he too likes beer as payment.

Broke an oil cooler and transmission cooler line swapping out radiators [emoji24], new line will be in tomorrow for the oil cooler. I’ll be getting a new trans cooler tomorrow and use some of the extra fittings to repair my line that broke at the radiator. Radiator and trans cooler were in awful shape and I’m amazed it ran as cool as it did. Finished some of the tail light wiring.

But 24 gauge won't be OEM or NOS. Won't even be close to factory original. I guess "what ever" is ok if you don't mind your floorboards flexing when you climb in or out.
