Thanks...the plan is to keep the inside as factory as possible and swap out all of the suspension and brakes. Bag and drag...here we come.

Got the new cam and lifters in, timing chain back on and even remembered to put the timing scale thing back on. Put on the water pump and intake manifold as well.
Then I accidentally lost a push rod down the little hole and into the lifter valley. Ended up using the $35 wifi scope to locate the slippery devil and guide a magnet to get it out. That little scope is definitely worth the money!!
Hoping to get the valve covers on, rest of the pulleys back on and see if I can get my baby started tonight. or tomorrow.

Got her running again!!! Probably irritated the crap out of the neighbors with the cam break in but so goes life, eh? The new radiator kept the temp at 205 or less during the 30 minutes of break in. The truck was in the driveway, nose to the garage with a fence on one side and in the sun. Very pleased with how cool she stayed.

I even put the rear view mirror back on, so I'm all hoity-toity.

Have to admit, I got the engine all set up on what I thought was TDC on #1 of the compression stroke. I didn't have the distributor cover off so......
Apparently a 4 stroke engine has a TDC of compression AND exhaust! That was an hour of my life trying to figure that out! HA!

Fixin to do mine this weekend. If you have a helper I just remove #1 plug with cap off and put my finger over the hole and have helper crank it over until it pushes the air up and past my finger making a fart like sound. Them a know I've got close to tdc on the compression stroke. Then fine tune from there. No helper makes it a little harder tho. Lol

Drove mine to work and set off car alarms in the parking garage.

No smoke, no hesitations, no hiccups, just power and torque all over the place.

Soooooooooo happy, I've shown pictures of the engine to everyone at work. And played a video of the engine running. Everyone here is a non-mechanically inclined woman but they ooooo-ed and awwwww-ed at the right times and sent me on my way.

not having those pesky body panels in the way sure does make things look easier...

It definitely made things easier to get too haha. Dog house had to come off any way for the new core support bushings and I have new fenders and inner fenders, figured well if I've got all this off the routing of the fuel lines and a ton of wiring for EFI will be easier with out it in the way. I also had to remove decades of leaking hydroboost.
