This weekend, I checked the occasional engine codes on my 89.

42 and 32,
32 = egr
42 = ignition timing.


Suspected one of them to be related to the ****** clogged up cat, so I went ahead and pulled that off.... Then since the misses was gone, I had to drive to the store, and do some other errands like that around town..
Boy what a joy, open pipes around town. :rofl:

the code 42 is related to the EST circuit not advancing timing like it should when I accelerate, essentially I've been driving maybe the past 2 months on base timing, plus the.... 5? Degrees mechanical advance from the ignition module :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Something lousy like a total timing of 15-20° at WOT LOL LOL

Even for a HO350 with higher compression and 93 octane, she still runs like a bone stock tbi 350! Lol

Explains why it's been a turd and getting ****** mpg. Regardless..... First order of things is to bypass that cat with a straight 3" pipe to the muffler, and from there, I'll work on getting to the bottom of what's causing the timing error.

I should've just bought a new dist instead of just doing cap, rotor, wires, and plug.
Good times.

Adjusted the exhaust pipes between lawnmower fill ups. Passenger was twisted up and hitting the bed making a terrible noise.

Was welded before I got the truck so they're about as even as they get. Have had to cut a few things into it though.

Hey, where'd you get that seat cover and do you like it?
Haven't driven it yet , but factory wheel is 16" diameter , this one is 14" so I got extra leg space between seat , the wheel is a billet wheel half wrap , it has finger grooves all around the back side of the wheel , the wood is sanded , and stained with high polish , it feels great in the hands , I also went with the short hub adapter to allow for more " belly room lol , the hub and wheel are from forever sharp . The seat cover is custom made by my wife lol , it's just 2 Mexican blankets off Amazon that my wife made into a seat cover . The seat really flows and fits the truck

Finially got the wife to help me bleed the brakes this weekend from the new rubber hoses and master cylinder. All new clear brake fluid in it. Haven't driven it in a few months I don't think now. But brakes are better than o remember them. I have no doubt that the old hoses were swelling under braking. Also the rear section of the master was leaking as well so I'm sure some of that pressure was being bled off. Also the clean fluid I'm sure is better than what was in there before.

Got it aligned after doing upper and lower control arm bushings a month or so ago. Can’t believe it still has the factory GM riveted upper ball joints after 33 years and 290,000 miles. They’re tight as can be and grease-able So I didn’t replace them with Napa crap.

After work I welded up the "cat delete pipe" since mine is plugged up, and being its an 89, it won't see inspections ever again anyway.

Jack up the back of the truck to pull the remainder of the exhaust I tied up to the frame after cutting it.

I was gonna weld my delete pipe to the muffler's inlet and of course, I turn it upside down and I hear **** rattling around in there... Take a peak inside the muffler and the chambers evidently exploded :rockit::rofl:

The whole outside of the muffler was all swollen like it was about to pop too.
Explains why the entire exhaust was just totally stopped up and hissing!

Anyway, new Flowmaster 40 on order, arrives tomorrow, then I'll finish welding up the exhaust and put it all back together

Kinda excited to hear the truck with no cat and a properly working muffler, instead of just open pipes lmao.

Following that I'll be diagnosing why the timing isn't advancing like it's supposed to.

It's not something she typically does , but I can ask her , you need to get 2 matching Mexican blankets that are 5 ft x 7 ft , just type Mexican blankets in search bar of eBay or Amazon tons of choices . I'll ask her but free time is few and far between with her cause of this corona nonsense so it might take a while

Took advantage of my lunch hour since I am working from home a few days. The kiddos got all excited I was going to paint over the rust converter I put on this past weekend....so I let them work!!!! They did nice. Front, and small back area on pan was painted. Nothing fancy and it will be covered up anyhow just to get it on the road!

AND....my suspension lowering kit came today!! :headbang:
