If I am lucky I pulled 10 on the highway heading to my folks ...

You guys and your gas engines.... lol my gutless 6.5 gets 18-20 on average with my short drives back and forth to work. I rarely ever cruise on the interstate but I’d Guess it’s probably getting approx 22 on the highway

I drove an 86 diesel Blazer my buddies Dad owned- I liked it . Mainly throwing revs and smoke at idle ...

Yep, I can still get it above 19mpg with the cruise set at 85mph on my truck.

Today:

Added about a 1/2 quart of oil after my 130 mile or so cruise yesterday.

Snugged the thermostat housing bolts and the tower clamp bolt on the radiator hose.

Thought I saw a bit of antifreeze, but the intake is dirty and oily, so who knows .

Snugged the carb mounting bolts - probably needed, can't hurt.

My idea from last night :

Lubed the speedo cable by disconnecting the upper from the cruise module under the hood, then disconnecting the cable from the speedo under the dash w/o pulling the cluster.

Sprayed WD40 down the cable housing, then pulling the cable out and oiling it down.

Cable back in housing , fight it back up to plug into speedo, hook up end under hood, and test drive.

Speedo still moves - success!

Next time you do that, I would recommend Fluid Film instead of wd40. The FF is a penetrating fluid, that doesn't evaporate off like the wd does. It will also creep into more difficult to reach areas. I started using it on my impact sockets in the garage to prevent rust. I went from haveing to regularly apply wd40 to only needing to wipe the sockets with the FF after I used them and put them away.

Back to normal...almost. All ECU wiring is now behind my glove box and fully triggered by a MSD solid state relay block. The irony of the whole thing is that switching my oil pressure gauge prompted everything I did over the last 24 hours and it’s the only thing holding me up. The sender is too fat at the base and cannot fully seat in the intake manifold, lol. So I need a couple fittings from home depot tomorrow. Then I can button it all up and blow the dust off it.

Still searching for a more ‘finished’ way of hanging the upper radiator hose mid-span.

I've got a new throttle body, brake booster, and master cylinder on the way. Once the storm clears I'll get em on the truck.

Finished up my weekend project of detailing my engine and tidying up the engine compartment. Removed the hood since it's time to remove the shotgun scoop and reinstall the cover plate on the hood. I still have to reinstall the hood but it's time for some well deserved cold beer and BBQ. Here's some pics....
