Finished rebuilding the steering shaft. Spent about $12 total for a pretty-much brand new shaft!

Pics later but i picked up a np241c from an 89 burb. And a cluster from 87 diesel burb. Going to use the housing and printed circuit from that cluster to rebuild mine. I paid 204 out the door for both. I guess the tcase has been tested and guarenteed for 30 days.

Anyone know if i can transplant my clock from my cluster to the blank in the diesel cluster? My original clock still works great and doesn't lose time so it would be nice to still use it

Drop it in and drive as it is supposed to be good. My 208 is trash, so if it turns out that the 241 needs a rebuild after testing it, they have 1 more or i will rebuild it. Shifter feels solid on it so I'm hoping it is good. It was hard to find a 241 w/ mech speedo around me for a decent price. So 150 sounded good, their normal price was 225

As a bonus i didn't catch until i was comparing my clusters, the new one has a trip meter! It works but the reset knob is rusted and frozen. Can i rebuild that? I really want a trip meter now that i have one.

In the cluster teardown thread i found my answer about the blank, it is just a cover and looks like i can put my clock in.

Cluater mix n match complete, i hope everything works. The traces looked like they all went to the same places, the warning lights under the speedo were different so i swapped mine over. I swapped my unleaded fuel gauge, cuta hole for my clock connector, and fixed trip reset. Also the odometer magically dropped to zero......

No idea how many miles are on it anyway, and it isn't needed for title in my state

Cleaned my 241c. Everything was sealed with rtv, no not sure of it has been opened or that is factory. I hope it doesn't leak, going to fill it and see of it leaks on thy bench.

I never knew how unbelievably easy it was to roll it back, especially with the tumbler out

bled front brakes again for the 10th??? time still a tiny bit of air but at least i no longer have leaks. once the rear end is done i will drive it for a bit and bleed again later as the pedal feels pretty good.

effing reman calipers suck balls. it took me getting 2 pairs before i realized every single effing one had the machining for the brake hose connection ground off!! had to visit every single store in the town i prefer to shop in (6 stores), the town i fly out of (4 stores), and the town i fly to before i finally found a good set. what a freaking joke!

also installed front tires for the first time in over a month, need to do some eyeball/tape measure alignment, and bring it in for a real alignment later. at least for now i should be done with the front end. i might get to drive it before the new year....

Installed an in cab control switch for my winch. Since I won't be taking up smoking, I decided to put the control toggle and the switch to arm it in the ashtray. Spaced off the light to show is armed... but I'll add one soon. I tried the toggle mounted up and down, but the ashtray would close when I pushed it up, so I turned the switch 1/4 turn, used the face plate of the controller and now the toggle works side to side.

Had a broken exhaust pipe hanger, repaired that. Installed a mounting bracket in the cab for holding my fire extinguisher. Replaced front wheel bearings.
