I think I got sent the arms for 81-87, there's a shape about the skirt around where the post goes in that hits the bolt that holds the post assembly onto the cowl. When fully engaged, the arm sits about 3" up off the glass.

So I figured screw it, just put on a set of bayonet base blades. From Napa. $31 that won't go for fuel. Sheesh.

Notice the shape of the area where it goes on the wiper arm post.

The finger closest to the post mount shows where, in the design of the arm, the skirt of the housing swoops low to accommodate how they set the tension spring mount. That feature hits the screw being pointed towards with the transistor radio whip.

It's literally been 2 years since I got these and don't remember from where.

Still can't decide if the SILV means Silverado or silver, the color. Either way, a swing and a miss. Maybe later I can upgrade to modern blades too.

I like those Napa ones. Might check them out when I go get brake pads for the 84.

I just run bayonet to j-hook style adapters that I got from Summit. They used to come with the nicer blades, but now you have to buy them separately @TotalyHucked

What are those arms off of?

They’re from Dorman for our trucks AFAIK. Or maybe they’re from OBS trucks? I found the PN# somewhere on this forum a long time ago

They have to be obs trucks. I guess it could possibly be 87-91 but I swear they weren't j hooks. I was going to try the obs arms next.

Do these ones flip up and stay up? For cleaning the windshield?

I'm guessing it was just one part number? The reason I say that is the drivers side looks about the right length but the passenger side looks long on an obs.

I got the front brakes done. If you don't have one of these brake spreaders I'd recommend you get one. Much easier than the old c-clamp method. Now is grilling and beer 30. Back brakes can wait till tomorrow.

Yesterday I lifted the truck up and found out immediately that there’s no way in hell that a guy could fish pre-bent transmission lines through without days of extra work, so plan B. Going to stick with the PO trans lines that he had fabbed with barbed ends. Now I’ll run hose in sequence to the external trans cooler to the radiator and back to the trans, since the transmission cooler was never utilized.

FWIW, I’ve heard lots of people express concern about using barbed ends with trans cooler hoses. My take is….don’t be. Apparently a 350 transmission only puts out 30 psi or so of pressure to the cooler. Getting the hoses off the barbed ends was a PITA, had to cut them off, and they were only a year old. It would be nice to have hard lines everywhere, but since the trans cooler has clamp-on fittings, it would necessitate hoses at some point anyway. The ATF hose I bought is Gates rated to 400 psi.

Now the trick is getting 5/16 inverted flare to 3/8 hose fitting for the radiator since not that common- but there is an industrial supply company that opens tomorrow morning at 7am and they have all that stuff, so I’m confident I’ll have it back together soon.

Then it’s a new set of rear Cooper Cobras next in my quest for eliminating problems for road trips.

I'll probably get it off and find out its the water pump, or PS pump.. But my big stick says alternator. Of course, it's underneath the others. $36 from rock auto.

Or put 12.00 worth of bearings in it( probably less than the shipping cost) and probably have a better piece when you are done anyway.

I needed the truck the following day. I agree with you and saved the original alternator to rebuild myself soon, and either sell or save for failure of the new unit. One thing surprising, is after the alternator was swapped, the engine was so quiet, I thought it was purring (a 250-6). I'm not kidding!

How did you get it from Rockauto and use the truck the next day?. I was figuring go to the parts store,match-up bearings and use it the same day.

Quad Lock phone mount (I use them in my car and motorcycle too), swapped out the old cigarette lighter socket for a dual USB socket, and a very nice center console showed up yesterday.

I don't think it's even anywhere near 30 psi. Maybe if it was deadhead pressure, but with a flowing circuit I'd be surprised if it's more than a few psi. I've rigged up a lot of cooler lines on my own vehicles over the years without even using a hose barb, no issues ever.

I recently bought some 5/16 inverted flare to 3/8 hose barb fittings from Summit, if you can't find any local.

Nope, they won’t stay up. They function just like our originals. It was just one PN#
