It's definitely easy to run short. everything always costs more than expected.
the sad thing is when you run short half way through something and the truck ends up sitting for weeks or months all torn apart.

Filled the tank with gas and put her back in dad's barn for what might end up being her winter slumber. Also checked the MPG's of the last tank, 10 mpg. That was the first time I ever did the math.

Mostly highway. About 120 miles on the highway up to the dunes and back. Then another 25 miles on the "country roads" and some on the sand of the dunes. The exact calculation ended up being 10.2 mpg. About what I thought it would be. With the camper in the bed it would drop to about 7. If I actually decided to tune the carb it might get better. But I don't really drive it enough to warrant it. I know it runs on the rich side.

For reference sake for others, this is a 400 sbc, TH400, NP203 t-case (Full-Time 4wd), 14b FF rear, 10b front, 3:73 gears.

sold mine for 2500$ looking for something else maybe try out a 88-95 c1500 auto im tired of shifting gears and terrible economy.

You won't hear me complaining! I knew it was bad when I bought it, and didn't care. Down the road when the "restoration" happens, I am planning on EFI and OD during that process. EFI for drive-ability and OD so it's more comfortable to drive with highway traffic. If I improve the MPG's at the same time to around 15, which I think is possible, that will be a good bonus and it will push me to actually drive it a lot more during the nicer months. And you're probably right, it's not different in the city.

It's not a square per the rules of this site, but it as as square as square can be. 1991 Jeep Cherokee. Replaced power steering pump, cleaned the engine bay, removed the battery tray and found rust so I covered it with rust reformer and painted it with rust reformer, did a coolant flush and drain, and found a small crack in the coolant overflow bottle so I plastic welded it and no more leak, bought some new overflow hose. Hopefully all of that cooling system work will help it run cooler. Now waiting for my order to arrive so i can finish it and drive it again.

My actual square just looks good sitting in the driveway at the moment.

In engine.. Do you mean the piston top soak and the smoke/fog show? Or in the crankcase? I don't do the sucking into the piston tops and let it soak. I just do half can in the crankcase about 500 miles before an oil change, and the other half in the fuel tank of 18-20 gallons. The stuff does work great. I use it about 25,000-30,000 miles in the crankcase and about every 10,000 in he fuel tank.

Why is that HRPC?

The biggest reason at first was I more concerned about trashing or clogging a Cat Converter. I did do this to 3 of my vehicles, one of them being my box van and about 5000 miles later my Cat did clog. Not sure that had much to do with it though. And when I did do it, I didn't get alot of smoke from the tailpipe which usually means the motor is pretty clean, and I keep my motors clean anyway. All that stuff does, it break up and burn off the carbon build up off the top of the pistons. If you don't have any, then what's point? I might do it to a dirty used motor I bought, but I'd pull the cat off first before I did it.
