I have a K10 . I'm thinking about putting a Blazer cap on and make a longer looking Blazer. I would have a secure place to keep my stuff, out the mud , rain and crooks. It would also be a safe place to sleep overnight. I believe the Blazer cap is only 9" shorter than my K10 bed. I'll glass in that 9" and cut out the back of my cab. Reinforce it and paint. I'll definitely get some second looks. Maybe t a trend. WHAT Y'ALL THINK ??

It would be more involved than that. It's a couple layers of fiberglass with a mounting flange, plus the cab would need a mounting flange for the top to bolt to and seal against. But the biggest hurdle is the body mounts- the cab is on isolated mounts but the bed is mounted solid to the frame. And of course the cab and bed are independent of each other so they are free to move separately with frame flex, even if both were mounted solid.

Just an update for this conversation.

I have since chopped up a barn door burb and my 2wd blazer and put the burb roof and barn doors on my blazer.

I can't remember if I posted it on here or not

well yeah lets see this!

Ray, you didn't put any finished pictures in your album.

Luke, found these pictures. I want to see finished pictures too.

I think you have too much time on your hands.
Just find a fiberglass camper top and don't chop up a truck.

Hey Salty , l have a Blazer , rotted out body ,good running gear. Good cap, no money in it , a new cap would be in the $1400.00 range. I have looked everywhere for a used cap. it use to be they were laying in everybody back yard. I'm experienced with this kind of work, not a dreamer.

Hey bucket, you bring up some good points. Rather than boring everybody with tech details, l figured I would just throw the plan out there, to see if anybody had done this kind of project before.

I'm wanting to shorten the frame and hood but not the interior for max room so I can camp out of the Suburban. Something like this. I've posted it on here before but no one liked it at all! Lots of work getting the front tires and grill in place. I'm thinking VW Syncro van on a budget with cheaper and easier to find parts.
