Oh yeah. I've been sold on that Yamaha stuff for years. We go Goodwilling quite a bit, and my chick knows better than to ask me to walk around with her inside. As soon I hit the door, I'm headed back to the stereo stuff.... I really screwed up though-When I bought the preamp, I didn't get the amp (mx-1000) too. $$$ Even now those still sell for 350-550.00 on ebay. I did eventually get a good deal on a Sansui amp from the same era. Its really close to the mx in features and performance. Its not a Yamaha though.... Man, 15 bucks for an amp??? Crazy. I've paid 20 bucks just for a cheaper model of their tape decks. So, I have to ask..... Which amp did you get? Model #? What other stuff do you have?

*** A NOTE FOR ALL YOU CASSETTE TAPE HATERS! ***

Yeah, tapes and decks still get used. On eBay 2 days ago, 2 different Nakamichi Dragon decks sold. One went for 1999.00 and the other sold for 1825.00. Plus S/H of course. For a used tape deck that's 25 to 35 years old! MSRP back then was 2500.00. So there! Stop picking on Rusty Nail! Lol. (Please don't pick on me either. I'm kinda sensitive....)

Oh, tell me about some of your completion stuff. That was so huge back then. What years were you doing it?..... (We might want to start a different thread though.... Lol)

Sure it will you just need a special enclosure. Find out how much volume the speaker needs and build the box accordingly to fit in the space you got.

Anybody else ever heard Pink Floyd's "Money" on a Quadraphonic 8-Track?
They used 4 tracks, so you only got 2 channels, instead of the 4 on a standard 8-Track.

See? This thread is an abortion anyway, might as well class it up some with HQ audio.

Standby, incoming pic.

No way you need the crackles and pops of vinyl.

true.

my stereo console has vinyl, r2r and aux in. I think the big part for me is the tube amp. solid state just doesn't sound the same. not saying worse, just different.

I was half joking about the reel to reel; I can't find much media for it. records are readily available, though. audiophiles do say the reel to reel is still the highest quality sound and they're bringing it back. too bad new albums run $75-200 each on reel to reel.
