Hey, can someone help me out here? I've just now learned how to load photos but I still don't know how to do it right. Why does it have the photo in regular size but when I post the thread it loads a larger version of the same photo. I don't understand what is going on and don't have enough computer knowledge to know how to do much.
Also, how do I continue the text under a photo. It's not letting me continue the text under a photo and move on with my story to a point wher another photo would be inserted. How do I do that? Is the direction in one of those icons in this tool bar above? Or what?

OK so since you're using the forum to host your pics, which is totally fine, the way the forum software works, you can't text under a pic during your first post. BUT HERE'S THE HACK. So after you post the pics. Then go to EDIT which you can only do for like 48 hours or so. Then scroll the bottom of your post where you see ATTACH 12456 ATTACH etc, each ATTATCH is your pic, so now you can type in between the ATTACH or under the ATTACH and it will then put your text under the pic.

Okay, HotRodPC. I figured I was doing something wrong because I was able to get text under the pic a couple of times but didn't see what I had done to do that again. And couldn't do it again, ha, ha.
I'll do what you describe. I would think the program would just let you keep texting as you go along. I guess not.

Paladin,

Thank you! And Dave M to, for the instructions. Now I have to go to another computer to get the pic I want. See, I have four computers in my room I use. Why do I have, need four computers? Because I don't know how to hold a site and go to another one to look up something or do something else and then go back to the original site or job I was doing. That would require "knowledge"! So I will be doing something on one computer and if I need to look something up or do another thing, I just turn on another computer and do whatever I need to do then go back to the first computer and continue my work. Like if I run into a word I forget how to spell, I don't know what to do to hold what I was doing. So I go to another computer find out how to spell the word, then go back to the first computer, type in the correct spelled word and continue what I was doing. Ha, ha, ha.

So I'm off to do the computer thing!

Wait wait wait, you don't know how to us a computer but you use 4 simultaneously?!?

It's called a tab. Open another tab or 4. I literally have 99 open on my phone right now. My wife thinks I'm insane for it because I passed my phone to show her something and she said what's that number for, are those all open tabs? Think I only had eighty some at the time.

Nice truck and a shame what they did to your column! I have an auto tilt column out of a '75 if you want to come pick it up around Chicago, lol.

Funny how some people are good with computers and some aren't. About 5 years ago my 87yo grandmother bought my 90yo grandfather a new computer for Christmas. He put the new one upstairs and set up his old one in the basement. Then he realized all his stuff was on his old hard drive so he figured out how to link the computers so he could access the computer's hdd in the basement with his computer upstairs. My grandmother has a bad hip so instead of calling her upstairs to look at stuff on the computer he bought a tablet and put that in the living room. He hooked that up to the upstairs computer so he can send her the things he finds online. The guy has always been a tinkerer and worked as a sewing machine mechanic for decades after his stint with the Navy. It amazes me that a 90yo guy can do that but some people, like the lawyers my wife works for, don't even know how to turn a computer on!

TubeTruck,

That's an amazing story. No, I believed you about the open tabs, but I don't even know how to do that so I just go to the computer next to me and do what I need to do on that one. It's just easier for me to do that. It's always on, I am just using two at a time. I rarely use all four. The only time I turn all of them on is about once a week I need to update the security systems on them all. I've got them, plugged into a "switch" which is hard wired to a VPN router which is connected to the modem.
And yeah I have the program to connect them together like your grand dad, it's called a "work group", but the only drawback is if something infects one, every computer in the work group gets infected. So I don't ever use the work group program, I just turn another computer on and when I'm done I turn it off. The computer I'm on now is the one I use all the time. The one next to it has the weather radar on all the time because the weather is so messed up I never know when there might be another hurricane coming through.
Last night I had three on because I needed that pic of my truck that I was told how to put it as my avatar. But at the same time all three had a security update come on and that tied all three up for a few minutes. High speed switches are good for transfering data especially like mine are all gig switches. It's like I know the equipment but I have no idea about how the program works.

Paladin,

THANK YOU! IT WORKED JUST LIKE YOU INSTRUCTED. I had to click around a bit but I finally figured it out, as you can see. Now I have my truck as the pic instead of some random thing.

Well, I'm still waiting for my column that I ordered a month ago. I've called the company and talked to the guy who handled the order and he told me that they were still waiting for it to be pulled from the truck? And that's not a grammerical error, I meant a question mark because I'm wondering if I'm being given the run around. "Duh, you think?"

So, I emailed them last week and told them that I needed to hear from them with a order number, which I never got to begin with, and that I needed an order status about when I could expect shipping info, i.e. itemized list of parts, tracking number, etc.. I told them that if I didn't get something from them this week which I don't think is unreasonable, I was going to cancel the order.
When I made this order I got red flags on the first email because of the lack of needed info that we all see when we order anything, list of what you ordered, order number, on some kind of a company letter head, which there was none.

So, I know this may sound extreme but I contacted the police department in the city where this company is located. I talked to a detective and he assured me that, "yes, this is a real company and they are who they said they are." He said that they were a large company there in that city and that he seriously doubted that they were trying to rip me off.
I'm sorry, I just couldn't afford being ripped off. I don't have much expendable money because I'm on Social Security and it just doesn't go very far these days with prices going up all the time. I scrape as much as I can out of my S.S. check each month and pay bills from that. and put the remainder into a checking account as my nest egg to pay for stuff like this and small doctor bills, etc..

So Monday I'm calling them and see what the hell is going on. I think I've been very patient waiting for this column. I've had to wait days longer for parts due to places being short handed due to Covid-19 that even Summit has posted on their site. "You may have to wait longer..." But a month!? That sounds like they are doing some bad business if you ask me. So we'll see Monday if I'm going to have to start looking again and the big question, how long will it take to get my money back from them if I haven't got my column and it's been a month!

Yeah, you bet Dave M!

See, I worked on big turbo prop, and passenger jets for the commercial airlines for seven years and have loved airplanes since I was a little kid. So when i was thinking about what i wanted my truck to look like the first thing in my head was, "an airplane". I wanted as many gauges as I could fit into the dash area so i sacrificed the upper a/c vent for the water and vacuum gauge, and the drivers side a/c vent for switches for all the gauges. Each switch turns lights on two gauges. But what was cool was the back of the factory dash, plastic, was these cone shapes behind the factory gauge opening. I cut those cones off and the 2 5/8" Autometer fit perfectly. I didn't have to do anything with the speedo and the tach, the 3 1/2 (I think) fit right in like it was made for it. Also Autometer. They are all "Sport Comp" style gauges. I have three more I already have and have made backings for, also Autometer but haven't figured out where to put them without doing some real cutting and I don't want to do that. They are a Trans. temp., a oil temp., and trans. pressure gauges. Just for fun thinking about gauges would be a, head temp., differential fluid temp. gauges but then we're starting to look like a semi-tractor rig with all the gauges. Now, one I could include for sure would be, manifold pressure gauge but that's already on the truck as a vacuum gauge, same thing. I used to have a "accelorometer" showing both positive and negative. Half the gauge shows how much positive G-forces you were generating upon acceleration, and the other half would show deceleration negative G-forces upon braking.

Second pic is a vacuum and front oil pressure coming off that little 1/8" plug removed and oil line plumed into oil gauge. I have a tach in the engine compartment in front of thr MSD 6A and the MSD timing control boxes over the inner wheel well.

Well, I called the place I had ordered the column from, in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Well I finally got the guy to admit that he really didn't have a column, when I paid for one to begin with! Ha, ha. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, he said since my email said I was going to cancel the order if I couldn't get them to send me a column pronto, he said they were going to cancel it anyway. Then the idiot tries to sell me another one he had in Washington for $500! I told him I wasn't going to buy anything that high, I said, "Just give me my money back." I said I'm cancelling the order and I wanted my money returned to my account so that I could go somewhere else and try to find one. I said, "Now, I've lost a month waiting for one when one wasn't coming and all along I thought one was.

So he said he was sorry, and I said it was a terrible way to run a business. He said the money would be returned to my account in 24 hrs. It had better be. If he drags his feet on that, does anyone have any experience with dealing with people like that guy? I mean he works for a large company in that town, I've already checked up on the company so I know they are not some little shop with two guys working there and they keep their money under a mattrice or something, I hope, ha, ha.

I've bought stuff for decades and never had some place sell me something they didn't have and had to wait a long time before finding out. This was the first time, amazingly. I've always had stores I could go to even though I've bought stuff on line, just not like this. It's always been for new stuff not used stuff. I've always been able to find what I needed from all the wrecking yards around my town, not somebody elses.

Grit dog,

Have you ever bought anything off this forum or know of anyone you know on here who has? Do you have any idea what they did to protect their security or whatever? A guy has a column, photos pending, I might buy to replace that piece of crap I'm driving around with. But I don't know how to do it. Do you?

^No man, I haven’t, but I’ve bought a few parts from random people online, lol.
Idk, I dont have a security protocol other than I wouldn’t do it with something expensive (whatever expensive is to a person) and I’d try to judge how honest they are. Like have they been around for a while on the site and are helpful etc
