Western Chassis front sway bar on 82 C10

Anybody know if the WC front bar bar requires the factory frame brackets? The guy who runs the eBay store it does not. Just want to make sure.

However, Bell Tech's bar does require the factory brackets, which they sell for $80 and change. Ouch!

OK. Just noticed LMC sells one for use with factory brackets, and one that does NOT require the brackets. Probably similar to WC's but $60 more!

I put a Belltech rear sway bar in my 84 Jimmy made a big difference, I plan on doin the front too. I had to grind out a couple factory rivets to install but it worked out well. there’s always somethin you have to do that they dont mention when you buy their parts.

I removed the front sway bar from my 84 when I bagged my truck last month. Now it just sits with the rest of my extra build parts. I still have the oem sway bar mount brackets, but could easily remove them from the frame. I would think that the oem brackets would be necessary for a sway bar, especially an aftermarket unit. Hell...make me an offer and I will send you my front sway bar, frame brackets, control arm brackets and the new polyurethane bushings too.


Some sway bars (depending on the years are more specific as to how they mount to the lower control arms. Is it possible that the aftermarket sway bars have different bends when it comes to mounting with or without the frame brackets?.

Yes, I think that's the case.

Follow up: The first sway bar Western Chassis sent me was higher on one end than the other. This made the truck sit up a little higher on one side. Called WC and they sent me another one. Problem solved. Also, the instructions show the bar installed upside down (!) which might create confusion for some.
