Check with local welder repair facilities, sometimes people trade in their older welders in on new ones or bring one in for repairs and not come pick them up.

Im almost 37 and wished I knew how to weld. If youre 15 years old and have the time now... learn to weld!!! There is so much you can do with welding, even if you do it has a hobby. But you will prob use it more for yourself. Places still pay good money for people that can weld. Its one of the few blue collar jobs that pay good if you have the skill.

Don't listen to all the internet nonsense, every patch panel get's ground. So no matter how ugly they are, you can still cut them down and bondo over them for patch panels, it's just the way it's done. As long as it's not a cold weld, it's a safe weld.

Our weld engineer here at work doesn't have dime stacking anywhere in his criteria for judging the quality of our welds lol.

Thanks! My Uncle is head welder at the Vermeer plant here but isn't liked by his co-workers cause he has been called several times to re-weld various pieces of machinery.

Welding can make you valuable, especially in mechanicing, I’ve been at work for just shy of two years, they have me welding things guys higher up than me can’t weld, mostly tow eyes lately on converter Dolly’s that go between 28’ pup trailers, the grade 1 and 2 guys can’t pass an X-ray with the welds
Guys that have been there 15 years or longer can’t pass the tests for their own jobs

I'll tell you now, having done all that crap, I could have bought a cab cheaper if you don't count the drive, and it would be better in the long run.
