I’ve seen turd polishing and I’d be hesitant on calling a 5/4 as yous call it a turd.

Here's what mine started as. You can see the original paint on the frame where I wiped it down. I got lucky most of the paint was there. I just repainted it semi-gloss black after a good cleaning.
