V6 TBI to..... recommendations?

I considered slapping in my BMW M30B35 5 speed its power figures are pretty good compared to say a 350 SBC. If I only had decent fab skills....

Theres a guy on the E30 fb page already doing a M30 powered C10 so I asked him what itd cost to replicate the mounts....

You must have that thing pretty hopped up. They only made about 200hp way up high in the revs back in the day.

IMO, even 300hp/tq achieved over 5000rpm in a heavy truck would be very unsatifyingly mediocre to go through all that trouble for a swap.

Keep her classic, but reliable fuel injection.
If you have the patience, a tbi setup would be cool.

Sorry ive got a deep love for a 73 c10 stepside with a worn out IL250 with no ps or pb! Ive honestly wanted to work up a 250 and put it in my 78.

Edit: to be clear buddy (wambojambo) i love his truck, i learned how to drive 3 on the tree in it. (Never driven 3 on the tree, just 4 and 5 speed floor shift)

Im not laughing at it, i just wouldnt swap to i6. If the i6 already exists in the truck, by all means, keep it.

I didn't learn to tune my on megasquirt just to keep it NA! Its 100% ready for boost.

Yeah its more of a pipe dream than anything, I think my truck should weigh about 3700 pounds so itd liven it up but probably be a dog off boost.

Yeah, stock figures are lame, but RELIABLE.

Weak ignition system, lame exhaust, lame fuel delivery that barely feeds the motor it sits on top of, etc.

I have my 350 all hotrodded out with vortec heads, a chip, ignition system and such, next move is to swap on the 46mm tbi i bored out and bump my fuel pressure to 18 psi. Get the most out of that 330hp the motor makes at the crank.

For a long time, TBI didn't need support. It was just dead nuts reliable. Now that it's 30+ years old, not many people know how to diagnose the system.

You know i love it. And i fairly know my tbi well.

The problem is many people just toss it for a carb when it acts up.

Honestly ive never had a tbi act up... my current s10 is a 4.3L tbi and it runs great.

It will as long as the sensors do right. I cant STAND IT when people just toss **** and swap it for a different fuel delivery or motor because something simple like a sensor dies.

Shows a true lack of intelligence.


The tbi especially. It is the simplest fuel delivery system EVER, yet the most passed over.
To keep it running literally just takes a vacuum gauge, multimeter, an ear, and a nose.
