Yes they are. Had to use a new rental 1/2 ton Silverado a week ago. Was free, my car was hit and in the body shop. Way higher and larger than either of the SB.

Throttle was a suggestion, sluggish from a stop. Motor and tranny had to think a while before anything would happen. Was also sluggish switching back and forth between a V8 and V4.

Government requirements have ruined new vehicles.

Coming out of Ace Hardware last weekend I saw this.

Not the best picture and probably the angle but good grief the new pickups are huge!

Yup my buddy's Colorado crew cab, isn't that much smaller than my '97 CCLB. A but shorter though! And a Phord ranger CC is about the same size as my Burb.

My 22 gmc is just as tall as my burb and the burb has a 6 inch lift and 35's... lol

You hit it right there. New trucks aren't really bigger, the bodies are just so much taller. Taller front clips, taller cabs and doors, taller bedsides, etc.

One place the tall bed sides really comes into play is with a fifth wheel camper.
Getting enough clearance between the bed and camper over hang is crucial.
When I went to a dually it actually sat about two inches lower than the single rear wheel truck I had previously.

It is crazy how big these new trucks are. My '17 Ram 1500 is a big truck compared to our squares or even the NBS trucks. But my buddy's '15 LTZ 2500 Duramax 4x4 that's leveled on 35s is HUGGGEEEEEEEEE. I like big trucks though, so no complaints from me lol

A coworker has a bloated GMC at4 and complains about a lady in IT that parks close to the line and that it's hard for him to park in his spot. Hearing this, I walked up and said, "It's because your truck is bloated". He turned towards me and said, "YOU'RE BLOATED!" I just laughed

Ya presuming these are observations not complaints. The interior room and size of new trucks is great imo.
I'm a fan of the 99-07 interiors and think they are probably the height of GM comfort. New trucks all have super thin seats compared to the previous generations. My '05 CCSB is super comfy/spacious. It has just enough of the creature comforts without all the extra complications of some newer features. Plus, it's a Gen III LS pre-AFM known for reliability. It's also the exact same wheelbase as my previous extra cab so the driving experience is pretty much the same. Best part is it cost like 10-15% of what a new truck would have.
