Truck pulling to the right, bad tire wear

There should be zero play. Jack it up and put it on jack stands with the tires still on, get under it and watch the kingpin joints while someone else tries to wiggle the tires, or use a pry bar to check for movement. .

When I worked doing alignments there were times we would do just that, jack it up put on jackstands with the tire about 1 inch off of the ground and have a buddy stick a crow bar under the tire and move up and down while you are under the truck looking at the bushings. There should be no movement. Good call C4!

I agree, there shouldn't be any play at all... but on the other hand, even a fair amount of play won't usually cause a pull issue. Loose steering, wandering, shaking, etc sure.

Only other thing I could think would be a broken mainspring or worn out spring bushings, allowing the axle to not track straight.

That surely sounds possible. Or a sheared center pin.

Hmm i am going to have to do that, yesterday my electic fan seized causing a nice fire..... Melted the wires and the fan. I had to deal with that last night... advanced auto parts must love me!

sounds like worn tie rod along with upper ball joint but i might be wrong
