My truck has stock wheels and hubcaps like the profile picture, so there isn't anywhere for much to stick in the wheels. However, the I may just pull off the front wheels to make sure something isn't stuck somewhere near the caliper. I don't think a stick would have lasted this long, but maybe I picked up something else.

Noise finally got consistent enough that a friend was able to find where it was coming from.

Its coming from the U-joint on the front drive-shaft where it connects to the transfer case. This is a double Cardan CV-like joint, so I its a combination of two U-joints to allow flex in two directions.

It looks like Moog and others sell replacement U-joints (Moog 280 or 269) and they only show one parts number for the double joint at the transfer case. Does this mean its the same U-joint for both halves of the double cardan joint? Anything special I need to know before I drop the driveshaft and start replacing parts?

Thanks,

Bruce

IMHO and if it were me I'd take the whole front shaft to a driveline shop and have them do the whole thing and balance it.
That's how I did mine and it was worth the $$.
Just my 2 cents.
