So I am getting ready to swap cabs.....Will a 85 k cab with manual trans replace a 81 cab w/ auto trans?
I recall a discussion about the trans humps,,,,but dont remember which way it will or will not work.

High hump: all 4wd

High hump: all floor shifted trans (both 2wd and 4wd)

Low hump: 2wd column shifted trans

So the answer to your question is "yes".

FWIW you can use a 2wd automatic cab on a 4x4 if you use the bolt on trans hump from a 73-80 & cut the opening on a 81-87 cab.

The high hump tunnels can be removed and installed into low hump cabs fairly easily. Here are some photos of when i put a 77 k10 high hump into a 78 c10 low hump cab. Not sure if the 80s were the same. The image of the red tunnel in the cab was when i was mocking it up for the cut. The rear section will be spot welded to the underside of the cab as it was from factory.

5.3 LS swap
Ok needing advice my 1979 was from the factory 2wd with 4 speed truck transmission.
I swaped in a 5.3 ls but still have the sm465 truck trans but now swaping that for a Muncie m20.
Original hump was the high hump trans tunnel.
Will that be to high for the hurst shifter.
Do I need a low hump tunnel but cant find any anywhere.
Looks lihe the low hump tunnels were part on the floor pan and not removable.
