WTF, PO is towing a 25,000lb GVW trailer with a ****** Nissan? You shouldn't be towing that with your truck, and I shouldn't be towing it with my box van either. That's a Medium Duty vehicle requirement at minumum. And it is a 2 5/16 ball needed for that. No such thing as a 2 3/8 that I've ever seen. 1 7/8, 2in, 2 5/16 is all I know of, or at least the most common.
I doubt there was 25k of weight on the trailer when PO was towing. I'd say more like 10-15K at the most. But yea I get what your saying.
Doesn't make a ****. Do you know how much steel it takes to carry 25,000lbs? I'd say you're talking a 4000lb traiiler probably more like 6000lbs. My rollback weight over 17,000, so put a Burb and a 3/4 ton Pickup on my Rollback and you'd have 25,000 lbs. Now how much trailer do you think it will take to a My Pete, a Burb and a Pick-Up? And you're towing that with a Nissan? I bet you the damn thing has a GCVWR of no more than 7500lbs and you'd tow a 10-15K trailer? Don't forget to the add the weight of the Nissan to that 10-15K. This idiot deserved to have his bumper ripped off. He needs his pecker ripped off too so he don't reproduce.
I can get a homemade trailer vin for $5 in VA. I wouldnt tow it with my truck anyways. I doubt I tag it for 25k probably more like 15k. I would use the GMC to tow it.
My tandem axle trailers that were built by trailer manufactures were rated at 7000lb with 2 3500lb axles and electric brakes on 1 axle. The same electric controller will also control 2 axles with brakes, so you can get the brake kits off of eBay and put brakes on both axles. Dual brakes usually aren't needed but I did anyway just because and figured they'd last longer, and I also did carry more than 7000lb on my trailer at times.
What are you wanting to pull Dave? You might even get by with a 5x10 single 3500lb trailer.
OK how kept my mouth shut till you said DOZER. YOu think your gonna pull the trailer and a dozer on it with a half ton. Doesnt matter even if you have trailer brakes anything less then a one ton duelly isnt enough even then it might not be enough.
