Getting ready to put the engine back into my truck and I removed the torque converter so it would not get damaged my question is on reinstalling it do I need to fill it up completely with fluid? Also when installing it how do I go about making sure it’s fully seated so it doesn’t damage my trans pump. I’m sure this is a common question but I figured it was easier to ask.

I have been thinking of swapping out my th350 for a 700r4 but I'm not sure if the drive shaft interchanges with the 700r4' Is yours a long bed? If so what is the distance between universal joint centerlines?

The only thing you need to do is measure the tail housing on your th350, if it’s a 6 inch housing the 700 can use the same driveshaft, assuming you’re working with a 2wd

No, you really don't. I'd normally pour a quart or 2 in it and go with it and never had problems. The pump will fill it pretty quick from the fluid in the pan.

You are kidding right? I wouldn't order **** from Monster. I've heard horror story after horror story about their transmissions and honoring warranty and not covering shipping costs to get it back, and if you want the transmission back that they aren't going to warranty, then you have to pay shipping plus crate fee to them to get it back otherwise they keep it. Same with Mad Dog. Apparantly, Mad Dog and Monster are in bed together or MD is a spin off of Monster. Just find you a good reputable local builder so if it has problems, he's close and take it for a test drive. Do that, and after you install it, take it by to him and have check your TV cable adjustment for you so HE KNOWS it's correct and if it fails, he don't blame you claiming misadjusted TV Cable. There's guys who have bought a new $1000-$1500 transmission every year for 3 years straight. By the time you spend all that money, you oughta just do a 4L80-E with controller conversion and be done with it for just about forever.
That's all just my opinion of course and I'm sticking to it. Summed up, 700r4 build from a local builder, OR if fundage permits do the 4L80-E conversion now. NO Monster, NO Mad Dog !!!

I’ve had good experience with local guys, the only other thing I can think of is to get the shifter tab off the old th350, and put it on the 700r4. And you’ll have to redrill the mounting holes in the crossmember, but if you redrill the mounting holes you can use the stock crossmember

No need to fill the convertor prior to installation unless it makes you FEEL better.

Pass on a Monster trans - ESPECIALLY a 700.

Buy a Jeg's brand and forgetaboutit!

Oh! Torque convertor re-install...
After you slide it on, kind of giggle it . Just a little bit. Maybe you should wiggle it. Just a little bit... if you think it "might" be in there, keep wiggling and maybe stab it a couple of times UNTIL BOOM! It will magically slide in like another INCH. I suggest doing it a few times to get the feel for it. Then you KNOW it's seated. But it's not - until you find that last "inch". When you do, you'll know. The clouds will part, the sun will shine, and birds will sing and the grass will green. Forgetaboutit!

Fill the converter, costs nothing, liberally apply trans oil or vaseline (not grease! It won't disolve) on tc snout to protect pump seal. Kinda surprised me to hear the bad storys about mad dog or monster. Why would anybody want to do a 2nd rate job, destined to fail? And there's certainly someone that's local to their shop, so does that qualify as having your local builder do the job? I do agree tho, best to have the shop that built it check the TV adjustment even tho it's a simple no brainer to set, yet countless backyard installers get it wrong and toast the tranny in short order. There's a TV cable eliminator, I think TCI markets it, but they charge full price for their tranny. Google TV eliminator. There are plenty of vids on Ytube showing different performance modifications to make your tranny much much stronger, and how to set the TV valve. By the way, when I Google TV Eliminator, monster transmission comes up as a sponsor ad at the top of the search results. I'm not sure what that tells me, but it's still there

I got it reset, the trans in it isn’t that old, I just removed it while the engine was out so it wouldn’t get damaged while moving the truck

Life is messy enough without trying to install a full converter. When the transmission gets turned over the pump is instantly filling the converter.
