Time for new shocks. Look at these!

I have never replaced shocks since I owned the truck. So I know they are bad. Its time to swap them out.
What I need to know is, is there a special shock I should use being I have leaf springs front and rear?

So Whats a good shock? Monroe? I was looking at the same one's I have on the stepper
from KYB. Its a great shock.

My dad and I have had quite a few squares over the years. Bilstein and KYB are our go to shocks.
Bilsteins are more expensive and I think the KYB mono max shocks are almost as good and are $25 cheaper each if you are looking at the 4600s (blue and yellow).

My dad had the KYB gas a just shocks on his K15 but it was only for paved roads. I went with the KYB mono max as I liked how the shock had a larger diameter body and was better at getting rid of some heat when used on gravel roads and towing.

But really anything will be better than what you have now.

Don't go with Monroe. There junk i find and wear out fast. My favorite are the bilstiens. Bit pricey

Clean the old ones up look for numbers,buy the exact same thing,those ones lasted,like 100 years.

depends on what kind of ride you want.
if your looking for a shock to help handling, go with a nitrogen shock, if your looking for a smooth ride, go a hydraulic shock.
just yesterday we put 4 new Skyjacker hydro's on my sons truck, very good ride and reasonable cost. i run Skyjacker nitrogens on my crew and my son also uses nitrogen kyb's on his firebird, handles like it's on rails and corners extremely flat

I like the KYBs that I put on my Silverado.

And you might want to put a put a brake drum back on there.

White shocks could have been Gabriels. I've had good luck with Gabriel.

My chart:

Monroe- bottom feeders, cheapest
Gabriel- More money, much better
KYB- More money again
Bilstein- Top. Do you need the top? most expensive

We are gonna go with some Rancho white with Red boots.. Went for those because of the 2" lift. They offered an extended shock.

If you only knew the BS I'm going through to find GOOD replacements. Mine are still thick, but NO one will turn them. Might just reuse them. I wanted them perfectly flat since the shoes were new including wheel master cylinder and hardware.

Not sure I’ve ever seen a warped drum. Do you think it’s out of round? If not, hit those mfers with a flapper wheel or wire wheel. Scuff real good and see how awesome your new brakes are!

KYB for shocks. Unless you’re selling it soon then find something that’s cheaper chit than the Monroe’s. They’re out there…lol
Of Bilsteins if your planning on a 20 year relationship and no lift kit or falling out. Hahaha

KYB monomax for the win. Be ready for a wrestling match to install them. The difference in ride will be exceptionally better.
