Tie rod replacement - wheels on?

Is it possible to replace the tie rods if you leave the tires on? Seems like there’s a lot of clearance. I have a 1980 C2500.

It's possible, just way easier if the wheels are off, especially if they're stuck on.

I guess my first thought would be "why"? A roller jack and a 20v impact and the wheel is off in 90 seconds.

Was contemplating just doing this on the street instead of moving it into the garage, but it sounds like I’ll just go ahead and do it with the wheels off lol

It really comes down to which position you prefer to work in. Would you rather sit in front of the wheel well, or would you rather lay down under the truck while you work.
