So here's the deal I have a 1985 s10 Tahoe truck and just ordered a new re-built carburetor for it and the new one did not come with a Throttle Position Sensor on it and my old one does have one. My question is do I need one on there to make it run right or does it not matter and if so how do I put one on. Thank you!

Yes....wont pass ca emissions testing either. TPS is for the ecm to control mixture up to part throttle, and timing through the whole operational range.

Jim is correct on that, Im about 100% sure that it wouldnt pass an emissions test, although if thats not a concern, Ive actualy tinkered with q-jets, Im not sure about yours, but if its anything like the full-size setup, not all of them had computerized carbs, and the ones that didnt within that year still had transmission and distributor timing modules/computers, therefore if theres not an issue with emissions, you might be able to convert it without alot of brain work involved, but id have to see it, I cant quite recall what different setups they used on that year, and theres not realy a way to install a TPS sensor on most aftermarket carbs unless it was made for original setup with that setup, I might be able to help if you need it, just throw some pics of the distributor & carb wiring.
