TH350 Won't engage park

Then it is what it is. This is a $150 craigslist transmission in a project car that does not even have windshield.

I do not have even CLOSE to enough $$ to rebuild this trans. If I had the tools I could probably muddle my way through doing it myself, especially with books/youtube etc. I could probably put together the cash to get a rebuild kit, but a professional rebuild or replacement??? NO FRIGGEN WAY.

Either I figure out a work-around or the car sits for another year. That's where I'm at.

Well....

It's in park!

My Dad and I (and the wife too) modified the bracket in the way I described above. We were able to get the pawl far enough to the aft that it now seems to reliably engage park. I cannot turn the trans with either the driveshaft, or the wheel. Seems fairly solid. I just need to run to the parts store and grab a filter/gasket and a few quarts of tranny fluid to see how well it holds on the ground. I'll still use chocks to be sure it does not roll, but I think I've got a winner here!

If it has that much play and you are able to make it move forward and back there is A failed brg or thrust washer .
