Who makes the best replacement tailgate handle?

I ordered one from Summit, I think it’s a Holly maybe…. It’s not even close to the original. Way thinner and about 1/4” narrower

Geeze, I have no idea…

It does bolt up, and seems like it would work okay but it looks terrible when mounted in the tailgate.

ETA: Not to mention it’s just as crooked as the 40 year old handle that has wallered out rivets and the nylon washers are long gone.

I'm pretty sure I got this one from AMD, maybe LMC I don't have the original handy but this one is beefy

Whoa, that’s really kind Ted!


My original had been bent and is a little wallered out at the rivets. Also the nylon washers are toasted, it would still work for a “work truck” or even a daily driver. I’ve just invested so much time into this tailgate that I’m struggling putting it back in.

I’ll give rebuilding it another shot or maybe an aftermarket…

If those don’t play out I’d love a rain check on yours Sir.

Thanks, I’ve had fairly good luck with my LMC purchases so far, and I do need a shift boot no one else seems to have so I’ll give them a shot

Unfortunately yes, that's the same one we sell. We label it as "X-brand" cuz we don't make it and it's one of those "it's useable, but not a great part" deals that I lost the argument on. We're working on our own handles but who knows how long that'll be before they're done
