what i had done was my engine and body swapped over to the 4x4 chassis the shop mated up my engine with the 4x4 transmission and installed my cab and box with my bumpers now they are in the process even finishing up some small things should have it back on the road tomorrow now i have a question did GM use the NP435's in the Chevy's for that year because the mechanic told me its a NP435 i was under the impression it was the SM465 because that's what GM ran whats the difference between the two and where can i find a inspection cover for the transmission ill have to check tomorrow what tranny it actually is when i get the truck back

I'm not aware the GM ever used the NP435 trans. That's a Ford thing. Not saying it can't be, but.... I'd get some pics and post them up. I'm sure we can figure it out.

Yep, now I remember what this deal was about.

I'd think that inspection cover should be an easy to find a wrecking yard or trans shop part. But, dealers should have it or able to get it. Or a trans supply house.

OK, wait a minute. You're talking the plate over the bell housing and/or clutch cover right? Not the Transmission inspection plate.

You've probably got some water trapped in the cable housing that is freezing. Get some WD-40 (Water Displacement Recipe #40) shot up in the cable to dry the water out and you might be ok. Not to mention some added lubricant can't hurt.
