Is the 5 lug 1/2 ton, 8.5" 10-bolt rear from from a squarebody suburban a direct bolt in for a squarebody truck? I was under the impression that they were the same, but I'm being told that there are housing differences between the two applications.

I was hoping to snag a 3.42 or even 3.08 rear to put in my '86 C10, and I originally thought it was just a bolt in deal, no modifications needed.

5 lug half ton 2wd drive 8.5" 10 bolt rear end Suburban rear axle is the same as a 5 lug half ton 2wd 8.5" 10 bolt C10 rear axle long or short bed.
