Honestly being without my truck sucks and I just want it to be drivable until I'm ready to do everything all at once, hopefully in a month or less of downtime.

Know the feeling... I had a truck before the Suburban I bought 10 years ago, felt like i lost an arm.. however i will tell you for a people mover and stuff, a Suburban is pretty damn the best there is.. the trend around here are those goofy big Sprinter vans...

Now that I committed to a 350 rebuild for the Suburban, a 1967-72 C10 LS swap looks REALLL tempting.. I can sell it as one of the kids next up rides..heck 3 years away from driving will come up on you like that! I guess some hip hop dude has an LS swap truck so he is all into it!

Hell, I'll be headed down there in June for a wedding... maybe I should buy the two 350's for $200 for the pair, slap some paint on them and sell them for $500-1000/ ea in SoCal to pay for the trip :happy175:

Hey All!

Hope everyone has been well!!

So I'm waiting to get the longblock back from the machine shope and trying to get as much done as I can in the meantime to hopefully drop that puppy in and be roadbound!

I degreased and pressure washed the engine bay, rebuilt the rear drums and working on the front brakes/hubs. All was going relatively well until I went to install rebuilt calipers I ordered off of Rockauto. The look similar but where the brakeline banjo bolts into the new caliper, there is a raised lip around the perimeter that will not allow the brake line to sit flat on the caliper. The old caliper is flat and the old hose looks like the same banjo bolt head. Ironically the caliper came with 4 new banjo bolt washers, 2 of them were plugged into the banjo bolt hole on the caliper, and those 2 washers are JUST a little bit higher than the lip.

Am I supposed to use those 2 washers at the caliper side or did they send me the wrong calipers or should I Dremel a notch in the caliper for the hose fitting? The rebuilt caliper looks like if got lost on a drill press line with all those marks, eh?!

Ok...so the brakes are done (I had the wrong calipers, I actually ended up installing 3 5/16" piston calipers and hoses) and I replaced the hubs while I was in there..I'm going to replace the differential fluids today.

I'm going to check up with the machine shop in the am to get an ETA of the motor completion and start putting it back together. My thought was to get it on the the road and see what starts breaking and go from there...

Should I be worried about the transmission jacking up the motor at all? I was going to replace filter/gasket/fluid but then I thought if the thing locks up it may damage the engine?
