Motor is tired in my 87. After looking at getting it rebuilt locally ive decided to go with a crate (cost about the same). Im not so much looking for performance as i am reliability. Too broke for vortec heads and all that right now (maybe later). I dont do any serious wheeling anyway. Just want somthing reliable to cruise around in, trips to the beach etc. Im looking at jegs part number 12568758. Just wondering if this motor will run fine off 87 gas. It's my understanding that it's identical to what i have now. So it should, but after talking with the guy at tbichips he says it'll need 91 with the stock cam in it. Anybody with personal experience in this?

Thanks,
Nick

A stock engine will run fine on 87 with it's stock chip.
