Steering Column swap

I know there is a million threads on here about this already but I’m still confused lol, I’m looking at putting a 78 tilt column in an 82 without tilt . There is a difference between the two columns somewhere but I can’t figure out what it is. If anyone knows what it is please let me know. Anyways is the swap going to work without any changes ? TIA

Should swap with out problems. Unfamiliar with a difference between the two years, but I do know that '84 and up had the wiper switch included in the turn signal arm whereas the wiper switch on '83 and down was on the dash. that's the only difference I know of.

The ignition switch plug ins are reversed on the tilt to not tilt, but the connectors are the same.

The lower steering shaft has to stay with the column. The coupler where the column and shaft join is different between those years.

Yes, the older shaft is splined and the newer is a double "D" iirc
