Gonna be noisy and I hated my two stroke dirt bikes

Can’t imagine what a 2 stroke diesel is like .

Hey Craig, so if I clock the pitman arm 90 degrees will it work? I have found pitman arms that are fully splined and not keyed.

In theory I think that would work, but that beyond my skill set. I guess it depends that the difference in length of pitman arm and what the difference in movement (sweep) the 2WD vs 4WD boxes have.

I hope to dig into my steering this weekend to replace a hydroboost line and install my Vintage air brackets. I have a stock K30 box, I see if I can get some measurement for you.

if i remember right, some boxes had different gear ratios for the steering.

Yup, I did a little research, and the 2 wheel drive boxes have a faster ratio. I also found out both 2 and 4 wheel boxes have the same sweep. I would imagine the pitman arm could be turned 90 degrees and use the stock drag link.

After I read your reply, I had to take another look at the splines on the shaft. There are 4 keyways clocked in 90 degree increments. When I replaced the box on my 86 M1031, it was the stock 4 wheel drive box, splined with the through bolt on the arm. I can get a fully splined arm which I think would work. It would be interesting to find out though.

The sector shaft(splined end) is different from 4x4 to 2wd and I don't think you can go one to the other. You could take the top cover off both gears and swap sector shafts to do whatever you are gonna do. Also when ever you run into a clocking problem for the pitman arm to the sector shaft on a 2wd, you can use a hacksaw on the pitman arm to groove each blind spot so it will go on any which way
