I used BP Automotive on my truck. they make a great harness and were great to deal with as well as fast getting it to me. I plan on using them for my next harness also. they use all new wires crimped to GM specs and they test everything before it leaves.

I checked their website today. Price is much better than others.

Mine came with an instruction book. It has a diagram showing what every connector is for and has all the wire colors and their destinations listed. Make it really easy to troubleshoot if needed. The people I ordered mine from were extremely helpful and responded quick.

In my opinion yes. Some others would say no because it’s “China made junk”. I would definitely buy another. I’ve seen the PSI harness in person and I’m CONVINCED PSI just rebrands this harness. It’s exactly the same down to the firewall grommet and the heat shrink and wire loom.

Thanks. I've sent a message to them, but haven't heard from them yet. I've looked (at pictures) and they do seem to be the same looking harness.

The painless harness comes with a nice instruction manual and schematic, a few things had to change like the PNP switch, 02 sensors, but it was honestly a piece of cake to install, all wires were labeled nicely and plugged right in.

might just be me but I think the motor idles smoother now with the new harness.

i saw the ebay and amazon harness's but I didnt wanna willingly install chinese stuff on my truck

Just say no to china

The majority of the stuff we buy nowadays is made in another country. The things we buy for our trucks come another county unless you can find good OEM parts. I bet you have many parts in your truck from China or Taiwan, or from another foreign source, I know I do, so, do we say no to all foreign made parts?

I'm searching every option I can on this harness and other parts I may need for my LS swap. These harness's range from $270 to over $700, and from what I'm seeing and reading, they're all basically the same, just a different name. Not everyone has deep pockets to reach down into. I'm not building a show vehicle, just upgrading from the 283/TH350 (the trans is going bad) to the 5.3LS/700r4 or the 4l60e.

I'm sure there are more out there that are using the foreign stuff on their trucks, but just will not admit it.

I've asked this question about the harness so I can get other peoples opinions (which is what I wanted) and experiences, and I've emailed just about every company that makes them, just waiting on responses.

I just avoid china if at all possible, even if it means paying more money. I’m kind of a fundamentalist, so don’t mind me. I go out of my way to find American made versions of whatever.

If not American, I find North American, if not North American, at least someone we’re friendly with.

I don't mind your opinion. There are products out there that I've learned not to buy because of the country they're made it.

alot of the replacement parts are chinese, I always try to source american made products before buying chinese sweat shop stuff, whos to say that a painless harness is 100% american made wires, connectors, anyways, what is nice though is being able to call a phone number and speak with somone right away.

my grandpa and my dad always told me, " you get what ya pay for" and I always try to use quality parts

I found an original harness from a 2001 truck with a 6.0, uncut with computer. Should a 6.0 work?

as long as your motor is the same gen 3 LS motor with DBC, I would ask for the O2 sensors if they have them. just in case they are different can save you a few bucks

depending on injectors, not sure if flex fuel stuff was a thing in 2001, but the injector plugs can vary maybe take a look at what you have. they do sell adapters if you need them.

take a good look at the harness, especially underside of fuse block and make sure its not melted, and obviously the least amout of cut wires is ideal.

Thanks. From what I've read it should work on my 5.3. I will look closer at this one compared to the one that came with the motor.

I've been reading and looking at all those ebay harnesses. I've found that almost all of them had a different alternator, MAF connectors compared to my motor.

BP Auto has an option section to get the correct connectors for my motor. Around $500

Painlesss says they make only one harness (with automatic trans). Around $579

Psi has a very good selection to choose from. Around $550

ebay harness, most wouldn't reply to my questions. Ranged from $230-260

I believe I'd rather pay for the $500 harness and have one made to my specs.

Now, where do those mount the computer, under the dash or in the engine compartment?
