Stalls when pressing gas too fast

So I was just driving my truck home like normal, and I noticed a few times that when I was stopped at a light and accelerated, it would sputter a bit. At the next light, it stalled as I started to make my turn. It took a while to get it started and when I did I couldn't get it to accelerate without stalling. I eventually succeeded by very slowly applying the gas, but it isn't normal. I noticed the engine sounded a little less powerful and meaty as well. In the neighborhood it had the same issue. If I let off the gas and put it back to where I had it, it sputters a bit. What could my issue here be? I had absolutely no issue here this morning.

Start with the fuel filter, then check the accelerator pump. Look down the throat with the engine off. Open the throttle using the arm and look for 2 strong streams of gas (one from each side).

Also check for any vacuum leaks. All these are relatively easy starting places.

Start with the fuel filter, then check the accelerator pump. Look down the throat with the engine off. Open the throttle using the arm and look for 2 strong streams of gas (one from each side).

Also check for any vacuum leaks. All these are relatively easy starting places.
I've been doing a bit more research and was curious if it could also be my IAC valve. It did use to stall when going into gear before I had this issue.

Dude, id start with the suggestions these guys have given and ifbthat doesnt work comeback and tell us. Then move to something else. Otherwise they will stop giving you advise if you ignore the advise. Just saying

You don't have an IAC valve. Those are used on fuel injection systems.

I had a similar problem, I just rebuilt the carb and put in a manual choke vs the electric one, I also installed a inline fuel filter...it seemed to cure it for me.

Do what this guy says, and @Shorty81 says, and listen to @82sbshortbed and @bucket . Start there. Listen to them, they know their stuff. Don't go down a rabbit hole right after getting solid advice.

Well is it possible my problem has to do with dirty gas? I just filled the tank up to full for the first time a few days ago and that was my second time driving it with a full tank. Could there have been some bad stuff in the tank that maybe clogged the fuel filter or worse? If so, will that have done any damage to my engine?

Clogged filter, maybe yes. Engine damage, I really doubt. Nonstop's advice is the very first thing to check.

And run some high quality fuel system cleaner through a few tank fills. It won't hurt. But first, check and fix what they said.

Will do! I just didn't have a chance to go look when i posted so i thought i'd try to rule out some other things. Another thing I might mention is that I was having trouble getting it started after it stalled last night. I was cranking and pumping the pedal a lot and it barely coughed. Same thing this morning, I got it started and it stalled as soon as i went into gear. Then it wouldnt start again for a while. But I will go out and check those things in the morning. That does sound like a relatively easy place to start. Hopefully it won't have to go any farther than that though. We'll see. But don't get me wrong I appreciate the help and all the expertise everyone is providing.

It makes me wonder if you did this exact same thing to your “ trusted family mechanic.”
I'm sorry like I said I wasn't going to have a chance to go out and work on my truck for a few days so I just kept posting because I wanted to learn more on my down time. It's not that I didnt listen. In fact this morning I'm just now going out to take a look at the fuel filter and accelerator pump and maybe try to check for vacuum leaks.
