Hello everyone I am 18 and have been slowly wrenching on my square for about 2 years now. It is a 1986 k10 with a 6.2l J code diesel. As of right now I am running 35s with 3.08 gear ratio naturally aspirated. As I am sure many of you know its not a great combination for highway use. I have a 700r4 tranny so i am looking to swap the rear axel to a 14bolt ff with a 4.10 gear ratio and change the 10bolt upfront to match the gear ratio and lug pattern of the rear. I have purchased a banks turbo for it as well to pep the motor up. If anyone has a 14 bolt for sale with a 4.10 ratio or any advice on this swap all input would be greatly appreciated.

:welcome: from northern IL!

Swap is pretty straight forward. You'll need bigger u-bolts for the rear and the top plate for the 3/4 ton axle, the rear u-joint is going to be bigger. The front should just bolt right up and should be the same u-joint, just make sure you use new u-bolts. 8 lug wheels and you're good to go!

When you find an axle , pull the cover and inspect the gears for wear, and verify the ratio.
Ask the seller if they have already removed the cover to inspect, if they have not, and don’t want you to,
then they don’t know what the ratio is , or they don’t want you to see how bad the gears are worn out

Some people either don’t know the ratio or they lie about it since 4.10& 4.56 are worth more money than 3.08 and 3.73

Every one will just claim their axles are 4.10
