speedometer gear problems

So was trying to figure out why the speedometer wasn't working, replaced the cable, fixed the reducer, and it still didn't work. So got to looking and the p.o. had snapped the old cable off in the gear. No parts places have what I need, and none of the j unkyards near by have old c hevys. Plus the ends are a little hammered out, (thanks dad) so short of getting a speedometer with GPS, any suggestions?

Are we talking at the speedo or the tranny ?

Any gear shop should have the parts at the transmission side.

In the tranny. Haven't started hitting transmission shops yet, dont know why I didn't think to do that.

Up here we have the gear center and they can get almost anything.
