speedo gear replacement

How hard is it to replace the speedo gear (TH 350)?
Major or minor project?
I have inconsistent readings (it's at the tranny)...

If the driven gear needs replaced, it's 1 bolt and slide it out. If it's the drive gear, then you need to pull the driveshaft, then the 4 bolts hold the tailshaft on the transmission. So both are relatively easy, just one is more time consuming that the other.

It could be either gear with a damaged tooth. It could be the speedo cable is gummed up and needs a clean and lube, it could be the speedo itself might need some lube. Be sure to use DRY lubricants, like graphite powder to lube the cable and/or speedo. Anything liquid will just be a dirt magnet, then you end up with jelly in your cable and speedo.

Naw, eliminated all that with the new gauge set... It's definitely at the tranny.. Was doing the same thing with the stock speedo...
